Interview from that one geek #gaming site I was asked to be a part of after my Gaiaonline activities around 2010 or so. The direction of that whole… interaction and collab was unclear. I was told to just move on from it and not question it when I brought it up in 2020 after leaving the group officially, and my posts containing my content being removed in 2015/2017 ish.
However, it seemed that my pictures would stay up after I had left.
Backstory: The interviewer met me in person one random day in 2010ish to tell me something out the blue (somehow she found me when I did not disclose my location to her but a different person), then later used Ashley A. Woods (fellow black women gamer/anime lover, and artist : Marvel, Tomb Raider, Millenia Wars) to introduce her properly to me at her home.
I would make videos and blog posts while dealing with depression and anxiety and to be compensated with a press badge for Acen or free pass to C2e2 and “exposure”, but never acquired followers, clients, views etc from the collaboration. The metrics (data for views) were always so low compared to what I was getting on my own platforms. What’s this “exposure “ that she spoke of? I had gotten way more traction before gyaru fashion and event blogging on Gaiaonline and MySpace!
Weird, but I gotta support other black women!
Looking back on it, if I’m not only her staff writer for mainly Acen (as she didn’t want to send me to other conventions for content), and we had a failing, rocky, wonky, #business relationship, why am I a “pal” when we were not friends (unless just adding each other on Facebook counts?) Or is it because it because gal rhymes with pal? (Just typing my thoughts.) I also found it interesting that the link given for me wasn’t for my blog or my YouTube channel.
⚠️Years later with reading this, I want to clarify, I do not condone Chibi gals dressing inappropriately for their age! The age range was for 18/19+ due to local age of consent laws. If you’re a younger gal, I think it’s perfectly fine to dress a bit more modest. ⚠️
