Highbrow Lowbrow Straightbrow!

I am a big fan of arched eyebrows and have been perfecting them for years in my gyaru journey.
Recently, straight brows have become a thing for people in and out of kawaii fashion. The straight brow gives a person a supposedly youthful appearance.

Those were the samples I drew inspiratiom from...

And this is what I came up with. One brow is a little wonky and both are just... ok. Maybe I'll add this brow look in my repertoire.

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned!

King of the Fall

Crossplay as Abel Tesfaye The Weeknd
I'm in my city camoed out, leather booted, kissin b(&*^%^^& in the club.

So, I decided to Abel-ify myself last night. I was having wayyy to much fun with this. lol.
It was on my mind for a while, so I decided to try it out. I used black eyeshadow, a bit of mascara, gel liner, and my dark brown eye brow pencil to create my brows, beard and moustache, and to also help with that sleepy, tired, and kinda stoned look that he always has going on... Well, save for some pictures where he is smiling. LOL

The Weeknd
d'awww!
The Weeknd
So moody!

Though I totally couldn't get my hair like his... nor a wig that I pretty much destroyed... I think I came pretty close for my first try!

And you have to do it all just to know where it gets you.

You can also check out my vine to see me lip sync to his song lol.

Until next time!!

Balance it Out!

Windy City Gal's tips for Beginners!

Over the years, seeing gals try out gal make up, there have been a few things that got to me: the lack of balance. I think it is one of the things that grows with the person doing the make up to learn balancing out the aesthetics especially for the more extreme and heavier make up styles.

Balance issue: Think of your favorite (or a ) Drag Queen. Now, if you have a pic of them without their glorious locks but their make up is on in full, it looks kinda weird until their hair is on and poppin.

BAHAHAHHAA
Cake faced glory

Got on one of my FAVE pairs of lens and Diamond Nudy eye lashes.... but no hair!! ARRGHGHHGHG!!!

Beady little eyes to steal your soul! D:

Weird, yea?! Well I look even funnier when I did Manba and didn't have my hair on yet!
Balance issue: A person doing super extreme Manba make up looks weird with super flat or no hair. The same goes for a person who wears super long and big falsies and bold bottom lashes without circle lens to balance out the lashes and take up some of the white space in the eye.

Hope these tips helped!

A takashi murakami animation

Takashi directs a new, and super girly commercial for Shu Uemura make up line. Its energetic, cute, and magical with a yin and yang type of duo of the two main magical girls. This certainly is more "moe" and cutesy than the Louis Vuitton commercials he has made, but still inspiring!

I would love to be involved with a short animation one day!

Make Up vs No make!!

It is kind of amusing, this world, that if one always wears make up (if it is a bit more than "natural" make up) they are being "fake" or if they do not wear anything at all, they are "ugly". Or some people act like the world is going to fall apart if a girl who usually looks very pretty (from wearing some to a lot of make up), doesn't wear anything at all!

A friend of mine sent me this video of Ms. Izumi Mana where people had made some big deal of her when she posted a photo with her make up on.

For me, its like, BIG DEAL? But, when you are in the spot light all the time, when all eyes are on you and what you wear and how you dress helps solidify your identity (or part of it), I guess for some audience members, it is a big deal. However, they have to realize, that these idols, celebrities, make up gurus, adult stars, models, etc and so on, are people too and they are not "perfect" all the time.

Here are some more make and no make shots:

I would have taken some of the Western gals before and after, but I kind of just rushed with this post, and didn't want to show off the pix without their permission.

Sweet Look trial

So, Lolo is a super cutie gyaru that pulls off light,"natural" gal looks so nice!
 I usually only go light for job interviews, or when I am running late to class, but I decided to actually put forth the effort to make a sweet look.
Many of you may recall that I used to lay on my eyeliner pretty thick and bold! Even Rio said my face looked naked in the sweet looks.

~~~
Here is my sweet eye make style:
no liner, just lashes
i think i used celeb eye and a half of nudy lash for the bottom
Top liner and shadow + glamorous lash and half of nudy eye lash
top liner and half way bottom liner and shadow+ cats eye with a half wing for length, nudy eye plus a cut up lash from the beauty supply.
These aren't in order AT ALL, but some different styles I was messing around with.
The only thing is, I don't dress "cute". Either casual or a more bold crazy sexy style.... Not sure what to do if I want to do sweet looks more often. O.o;;
Be natural!
unnatural naturalness
For some reason, it URKS THE HELL OUT OF ME when lets say a lover or such would say "I like natural.natural eye colour, natural hair." and so forth. I can understand this, but two things: I LOVE gal fashion! I like heightening my appearance whether it's for manba/banba or for my more tsuyome rocker look; thick lashes, bigger eye shape, bigger eyes and colour, wigs and extensions, heels, etc. Its like art in my opinion, and art is my life. The second is; it's not like he NEVER saw a picture of me all done up before(all my pictures were mostly banba at that!and thank GOODNESS that I don't do cybergoth!). So it's not like I just popped up out of the blue with a white wig and heavy make up at his door saying "HEY BABYYYYYYY".
But besides that, guys go "I like the natural look". But do you realize how FLAWED that is?
I am sure most guys want their girl's face skin to be realitively even toned, their lips to be a little glossy or pigmented with a lipcolour, their hair done, and probably a little bit of liner. True some guys have girls that do relatively nothing, but that's not the point LOL. (maybe they want them to wear a lil make and do their hair a bit.
no make up vs a little bit of make up
I think guys have to realize that they need to know about make up too and what it can do for a girl or what it can work against them(and also be respectful of that GAL'S preference. ;)   ). And also realize the difference between light/"natural" make up and no make up at all. I even remember a study about this. I more men chose the made up but "natural" looks than just nothing at all ANYWAYS.
I will have to rag on the guys(who complain about this atleast), they dont do things that natural either! Is shaving natural? Or getting a hair cut? Otherwise, your beard hairs would be falling out, and your hair would only grow to a certain point. I dont think using gel is natural either. You didnt pop out your mum with spiky hair, so what are you doing? Or wearing suits that make your shoulders broader. Or wearing tight fitted shirts to show of your muscles. Or wearing cologne. If everyone is supposed to be natural, then hell, we would all be running around butt ass naked, with our hair all knotted up and all over our heads with hairy legs. That sounds super hot, huh? Because we weren't born with all the stuff that makes us look atleast halfway decent this day , right?
For me liking and studying subcultures and being in one, the one thing that i find important above all else is if that person's make is clean and not flakey or smudgy, and that it compliments that person's features depending on what that person is doing. If it just looks sloppy like a 2yr old did it... It's a no go in my book.
In the end, I will keep to my habit of doing myself up in the style I favor. Because after all, humans have been decorating themselves for CENTURIES, so why is it a bad thing that it is still being done to this day?
