C2E2+AfterParty!

Working hard!

So, very early Saturday morning (til about 12:30am) I helped a few new cosplaying friends as a volunteer who are apart of Club Adventure. They all create and collaborate on making cardboard Transformer's gear. I got to meet them, and also lend my painting skills to help them edge their project along. They were all working so hard when I got there, and even though they had movies playing in the background, Club Adventure or "The Transformers" (they are known for their costumes at conventions in Chicago) were so productive and dedicated to getting their cosplays done!

Character reference for painting parts.

Even though I had work at 10am-3, I made it to C2E2  at 4 to network, and also talk about my blog, Midwest new gyaru-sa: Gal*Luxy, and how we were trying to bring the Gyaru Culture, a fresher and more positive one, to the Midwest.

After I left the SugarGamers booth at C2E2, I went to the After Party at Sakura Lounge where we held a raffle there and gave away some cool prizes.

My big sister Ashley A. Woods and friend Shomari.

I had quite a few pix, but editing them all would have been way too much with all the work I have to do!

The Aging Process (Whats my age again?)

{C2E2 afterparty tickets for Saturday are on sale tomorrow at the <redacted due to issues> booth in Chicago!}

I usually like to blog about things or events that were made and carried out, but, I have been realizing that I am not the young hesitant young gal anymore. I am almost so close to getting my Bachelors of Fine Arts at Columbia College Chicago and trying to get some art shows going. It might be a while til I am super well known from my paintings (which would be part of my decadent dream come true!) but I am trying to get there this year. Hence why I am only popping in and out of a few gal comms at this moment.

If I were a gal in Japan, I'd probably have a baby by now and looking a bit more normal and working somewhere normal. If I'm lucky, I might have my own clothing line like Kaoru Watanabe or my own cosmetics line like Tsubasa Masakawa. However, I am a black gyaru in America, in the Windy City, still going to college and trying to figure out what's happened, happening, and going to happen in my life.

During those times when I have to realize what I am doing seems to come natural now, but yet so foreign, , it makes me feel so much older than I remember. I bought a magazine just for the gift it had since it was so peculiar to me in a funny marketing tactic kind of way, and it turned out to be a magazine for less extravagantly dressed women who were into maybe a more "normal" lifestyle! It was looking into a magazine of what I could have chosen to look like, but I didn't.

More mag's gift.
(travel toothbrush, rinsing cup, cute drawstring pouch, and mirror).

I  guess I can be fancy when I go traveling?

Some of the coords are decent, but some do not call to me at all like how Blenda, Jelly, Ageha, and now Edge*S usually does for me now. But, they do have good tips on doing your eyebrows and also cooking tips and bento arrangements for healthy eating.

Well, I have to get back to these projects that I think you guys might enjoy :P . Too many projects, Not enough time.

Keisha of SG also interviewed me for the sight as well about my fashion and lifestyle and my personal opinion on it.

GalLuxy Weekend recap!

Man, with finals around the corner, I almost forgot to post about the weekend!
Here is a quick post! I have more to show, but it will be shown a bit later and it's part of a secret project. ;)

Our Me2 preview made by Purin!

Purin and I's nails
Purin and I rode the Greyhound. It was.... not that impressive to be honest.
On Friday, we warmed up and wound down at Oasis Hot Tub Gardens In Ann Arbor. They tried to charge us more before we wanted to relax, and one of the front desk ladies, or man?, was very rude to us!

Mama Kai, me and Bulaklak's Coco!

Group shot with a teacher of the college in Ann Arbor

Kai is our Sith gal!

Pepa, Purin and I played the Para Para Paradise game!
Being silly

Eep! I was caught doing a mini gyaru interview to Pepa's friend Katie.

Gyaru doing a gyaru photoshoot!

Also, if you have gyaru related clips, you can participate in the Gaijin Gyaru Awards!

yahoo!

Libra Snakes
me! lol
For today....

I was at Woodfield Mall trying to pick out the last pieces of an outfit I needed to get for the Gal*Luxy Midwest me2 up in Michigan with my partner! I also checked and talked to people around the mall. I really liked this art gallery here, and I hope to have some of my works hanging there too for an exhibit and not just in downtown Chicago !! I hope I can do some art shows or SOMETHING before I get out of college. Well besides stuff that my art teacher put me in.

For Beauty gets...

My lashes came from Dtan! She was sellign packs before she went to China, I think for an internship! Way to go gal! She will not be taking any orders until she is back in the states, and is a nice way to get a few styles which I think is a plus in my eyes.

\
These are crappy pictures, but Yay! cute little gifts and a cute note for being one of her regular customers for the Lash Packs!
Thanks Dtan! Plus, I like the idea of doing custom packs with her because... You get variety! You get to try out different styles, or try out something new without wasting a full pack of lashes if you bought them instore!

Ms. Pepa herself!
By the way, this me2 up, It is Pepa's second (?) gal event coordination in the midwest, and I bet it will be just as awesome! She has that old school flair and sassiness that I LOVE that some new gals do not seem to have. She also has that passion for the older styles and how it seemed bold and fun and carefree and into having get togethers! That is why I wanted to be in a galcir with her!!

I am so happy that we started to talk to each other I think she is sooo badass to me!

Plus...

Nami and Tomo's dog trying to wake me up when I slept over?
Or watching me...while I pretend to take pix of him?

I hope you guys will look forward to our first Gyaru Me2 Up posts!!

3-20-2013

I'm up super late working on a portfolio piece for class. I have been really studying and working on quite a bit of projects and assignments that I feel will be a nice example of how I have grown as a person and as an artist. I just really cannot wait for the March gyaru meet for Midwest gals to wind down a bit.

Thinking on it, it seems like a long time since when I wanted to be in Colulu Lovelies and got into Diamond Gyaru sa instead. A longer time when Black*Cherry was born with Tomo, La, Murphy and myself in a Chipotle in Oak Park Chicago. An even longer time when I first saw the FIRST Chicago based gyaru sa, Kamikaze, with Tomo, La, and Murphy, and wanted to be in them when I first became a gyaru back in around 2007.

The scene seemed so different to me, and was not just about girls dressing a certain way for just attention, but the want to connect to other gals and have FUN.

I can go on about this, but maybe it will have to be for another time.

I also am practicing my photoshop skills, and asked Rii of Utsukushii Gal blog to edit one of her photos. I admired her style back in the day, and I think she has matured into a beautiful mature gal!
I saw her recent photos even had that sweet, mature look I see in mags like Blenda or Jelly. So I wanted to mess around with one of her pictures, and make them look as if she were in one of those magazines. I always liked to mess around with photo editing and try to produce a nice effect or image. I hope you guys and gals will like it! And I hope she does too!!

I should be sleeping soon~

Good Night~

2013-03-05 to 03-08

On Saturday, Purin and her boyfriend and my partner chilled at Mitsuwa. It was pretty fun, and we dressed up despite the cold! I found some cosplayers who I hope to see at Acen too.

Thank you for letting me take your photo!

Sweet Purin and Tough Lisha

At the food court~

You can also check out her post for this day here.

Sunday, Purin and I had a photoshoot with a friend, David of DSA Photography. It was a very cute themed shoot! It was a first for David to do something with a lighter theme, and it was my first time doing a little art directing and helping with the photos and such.

Monday night, I and my partner got dressed up to go to a Muse concert. He got us vip tickets, and it was a very exciting experience! Simply put, Muse was awesome. I have not heard a lot of music from them since I was in high school, so seeing them at the United Center with all the fog and people was mind blowing.

I really wish I could have gotten a good pic of my outfit! oh well. It was just a corset, and black shiny look leggings.

Also, I have a kind of big blog post about my gal journey and my thoughts! I hope my readers will like it. :)

Catch Up

I have been super busy and totally forgot to post pictures up for valentines!  Being a member of Gal*luxy, I had a theme blog post for my gyaru sa, Gal*luxy to share with other gals around the world how we spend our time with our loved ones. Whether they are friends, friends we treat as our own family, family, or our lovers.

Here were some of my picture that I did not upload of my Chicago based gyaru sisters.

We shared a light snack before we got to some light core partying.
You can check out our gyarusa's blog about what we did for Valentine's day here!
I hope you enjoy!

I also have been becoming a bit more organized due to working in an office setting. gah... It can be a little stressful but I think I have been keeping up with my planners...

For my personal (gyaru/school) life, I am trying to use school as my way to dress more gyaru like. Sometimes I am pretty casual with my look (band shirt and jeans, but I think that with my hair looking a bit styled and with a full face of makeup and lashes, I feel more passable these days. ;)

As for gal mags, I bought Edge*s and Ageha. Ageha is as photoshopped and glittery as ever, and Edge*s has some nice style inspiration. I have been trying to get into more styles that will reflect a cool, sassy, alternative, mature for myself when I am not kicking it with my gal sisters.

I also got a gift too yesterday that cheered me up! Sanrio goodies from a cutie pie! I am a S U C K E R for Kuromi goods!

Also doing a different hair regiment as well! No more relaxers!
